Governance

AIC is run by an elected Board of Directors made up of six farmer shareholders and one independent director. We value our Directors for providing a meaningful connection to day-to-day farming, as the majority of the Board continue to live and work on farms in the Amuri Basin.

An AGM is held each year at the end of November and we encourage all our shareholders to attend, provide feedback and discuss any concerns with the Directors. Any shareholder can put themselves forward for election on to the Board.

Our Strategy

AIC strives to harness our collective strength to manage the natural resources of the Hurunui-Waiau for the prosperity of farming, family and the community. Our vision is for thriving agribusinesses working in a healthy environment.

    1. A competitive and sustainable water charge that provides sufficient revenue to achieve our strategy.

    2. Well managed bank covenants, debt and treasury.

    3. Additional revenue streams identified and pursued.

    4. Disciplined financial management.


    We’ll do this by:
    Leveraging Hydropower to generate revenue to offset storage costs. Where possible, we will pursue the incremental expansion of water use.

    1. A successful regional plan review with the support of the community.

    2. Enhancement projects delivered.

    3. Stakeholders well informed and valued.

    4. Strong relationships with Rũnanga developed.


    We’ll do this by:
    Showing proactive leadership to positively influence local and national government and increase engagement with stakeholders and community.

    1. Assets managed in accordance with the Asset Management Plan.

    2. Level of service targets developed and met.

    3. Storage developed to mitigate impact of increased minimum flows.

    4. Operational excellence in all aspects of our business.


    We’ll do this by:
    Delivering pressurised water with minimal interruption and provide high reliability whilst supporting shareholders.

    1. All groundwater drinking water wells meeting drinking water standards.

    2. Encouraging farmers to reduce nutrient loss.

    3. Improving quality in tributary and drain water.

    4. Strategic intervention based on science and data to mitigate effects.


    We’ll do this by:
    Gathering quality data to reduce our footprint; implementing technologies to improve water quality, and encouraging improved efficiency and biodiversity.
